boston — where nobody knows my name.

october fourth: i think that today was a beautiful day, chilly but almost perfect. i think that i have fallen in love with the city. boston is such a unique place, and it seems to always be so lively. i stayed with emily and bjoern at boston university last night. with about 24,000 students, BU has a campus full of really interesting people. today, emily had to work today with under-priviledged pre-schoolers to try and get them back up to speed with their peers at a program called “jump-start”. it is a non-profit organization, and it really helps the needs of young students that don’t have the same opporunities that others do. to visit the website, go to jstart.org. anyway, emily was gone from 10-4, so bjoern and i decided to go off and explore into the big beautiful city. our friend trevor decided to come also — from old saybrook. we picked him up at backbay station, and spent the day walking down newbury street, and through quincy market. we took the t back to BU. for some reason, i love riding trains. i have become infatuated with it; people on trains may surprise you. most are dressed in dark colors, and suits with ties and shiny shoes, but i think that i am beginning to notice that these people have an unbearable addiction to wanting to be successful. they will give up who they are in order to be the person they think they can’t be unless they work for big corporate businesses and organizations. i know that i don’t want to be that person, and i think that is why i like being on the train. i begin to realize who i want to be in a crowd of people that don’t. anyway – we are taking the train back to old saybrook at 6:45. i am really happy to be home; it makes me all warm and cuddly. aufwiedersehen!

never you mind, its sure to be alright.

the sun rose with difficulty early this morning, but i tried to smile anyway. from the crisp autumn air of keene, to the lively brightness of boston

i learned a few things:

  • i have two of the most beautiful friends a girl could ever ask for; emily, and bjoern.
  • life is much too short, don’t live with bitter feelings.
  • independence isn’t always a bad thing.
  • little girls on trains need to learn better manners.
